Description
Bacteriostatic Water 3ml — Sterile Reconstitution Solution for Research Peptides
What is Bacteriostatic Water?
Bacteriostatic Water (also known as bacteriostatic water for injection or BWFI) is a sterile solution containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as an antimicrobial preservative. It is specifically formulated for the reconstitution and dilution of lyophilised (freeze-dried) powders used in laboratory research settings.
Key Features
• Sterile 0.9% Benzyl Alcohol Solution — Contains benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative to inhibit bacterial growth after initial use
• Multi-Use Vial — Designed for repeated access when stored and handled according to sterile technique protocols
• Research Grade — Manufactured under controlled conditions suitable for laboratory research applications
• 3ml Fill Volume — Supplied in a 3ml sterile vial for convenient small-volume reconstitution
• South African Supply — Locally supplied by Cronopharm
Applications in Research
Bacteriostatic Water is primarily used in laboratory research for:
• Reconstituting lyophilised peptide powders prior to research studies
• Diluting concentrated research compounds to working concentrations
• Preparing control solutions and vehicle solutions for in vitro and in vivo studies
• General laboratory applications requiring sterile water with preservative
Storage and Handling
• Store at controlled room temperature (15-30°C)
• Protect from freezing and excessive heat
• Use sterile technique when accessing the vial
• Discard if solution becomes cloudy or if visible particulate matter is present
• For laboratory research use only
Important Notes
• Bacteriostatic Water is intended for laboratory research purposes only
• Not for human or veterinary therapeutic use
• Always follow appropriate laboratory safety protocols when handling
• Use within 28 days of first accessing the vial when stored properly

Key Research Benefits
- Sterile Reconstitution: 0.9% benzyl alcohol solution formulated for reconstituting lyophilised research peptides.
- Antimicrobial Protection: Bacteriostatic preservative inhibits bacterial growth after initial vial access.
- Multi-Use Vial: Designed for repeated sterile access within the recommended use period.
- Research Convenience: 3ml fill volume suited for single-peptide reconstitution protocols.
How to Use (Reconstitution)
Bacteriostatic Water is used to reconstitute lyophilised peptide powders prior to research use.
- Wipe the vial stopper with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry.
- Draw the required volume into a sterile syringe and inject slowly into the peptide vial, directing the stream down the vial wall.
- Gently swirl to dissolve — do not shake.
- Use within 28 days of first accessing the vial when stored properly.
- Discard if the solution becomes cloudy or contains visible particulate matter.
