Description
PT-141 Vial — Melanocortin Agonist for CNS Receptor Research (10mg)
What is PT-141?
PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide derived from Melanotan II through structural modification. It was engineered to retain melanocortin receptor agonist activity while exhibiting a distinct receptor selectivity and pharmacokinetic profile compared to its parent compound.
PT-141 is a potent agonist of the melanocortin-3 (MC3R) and melanocortin-4 (MC4R) receptors, which are expressed predominantly in the central nervous system. Research interest centres on the role of central melanocortin signalling in behavioural and autonomic regulation.
Mechanism of Research Interest
- MC3R/MC4R Agonism: Selectively activates central melanocortin receptors, enabling research into their physiological roles.
- CNS Signalling: Studied for effects on hypothalamic and brainstem melanocortin pathways.
- Receptor Selectivity: The modified structure allows comparative pharmacology studies against Melanotan II and α-MSH analogues.
Research Applications
- Central melanocortin receptor research
- Hypothalamic signalling pathway studies
- Peptide receptor selectivity investigations
- Cyclic peptide drug design research

Reconstitution Guidelines
For experienced laboratory personnel only. This lyophilised powder must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water prior to research use.
- Allow the vial to equilibrate to room temperature (15–25°C) before reconstitution.
- Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry.
- Using a sterile syringe, add the required volume of Bacteriostatic Water by injecting slowly down the inner wall of the vial — do not aim the stream directly at the lyophilised cake.
- Gently swirl the vial until the powder is fully dissolved. Do not shake vigorously, as this can denature the peptide.
- Visually inspect the reconstituted solution — it should be clear and free of particulate matter.
- Store reconstituted solutions at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe defined in your research protocol. Discard any unused solution after the recommended period.
